There are two types of hosted voicemail box with extensions services. One is services that provide a toll free number and the other who provide a local number. Both the toll free number and local phone number services provide a wide array of common features such as multiple voicemail boxes and extension, virtual PBX, day, night and weekend greetings, call forwarding find me / follow me, voicemail to email and fax to email just to mention a few.

Toll free number services normally have a per minute charge. Per minute charges range from four cents to 15 cents per minute. There is also a monthly cost of $10 to $25 depending on the provider and the features associated with their basic service.

Some service providers will charge less per minute if the call goes directly to voicemail and more if the call is forwarded and connected live to the subscriber. Typically toll free service is offered to customers where a provider does not/cannot offer local service and are more expensive overall than a local flat rate service.

Voicemail Plus provides a toll free voicemail box with extensions service for $15 per month plus seven cents per minute for calls going directly to voicemail and an additional three cents per minute for a connected call.

Local phone number voicemail box with extensions services are less common because normally the service provider costs are higher when they provide local numbers. Some service providers who provide local phone number still charge you for usage. Other service providers provide a flat rate service or a flat rate service for call going directly to voicemail and a few extra cents per minute for a connected call.

Voicemail Plus provides a local flat rate service for call going directly to voicemail and charge three cents per minute for a connected call.
